Junior Ranger: Bush Detectives
WHAT: Become a bush detective in Kosciuszko National Park these school holidays. Kids will explore the aquatic ecosystems of the high country.
We’ll set out from Sawpit Creek picnic area, exploring bushland until we reach the local water source. Along the way, we’ll stop to notice wildlife and listen to the sounds of the high country. Curious kids will have plenty of time to investigate and ask questions about the little details of nature.
When we arrive at the water, we’ll become stream scientists. Kids can splash in the creek, catching and identifying aquatic bugs. Learn how these tiny creatures support the health of rivers and their other inhabitants like platypi, native water rats and freshwater fish.
Kids will gain a deeper understanding of how waterways work, why they matter, and simple ways we can all help protect them. Our bush detectives program is updated each year with fresh games, reflection activities and areas to explore.
