Program description

Leading Australian guitarist Andrew Blanch has curated a two-act selection of works that represents some of his favourite music for the much-loved instrument.

The first half features masterworks spanning close to three centuries of the classical music tradition, while the second half allows Andrew to share a personal passion – demonstrating the extraordinary depth and exceptional beauty of the music of Latin America.

The program will include works by Vivaldi, Tarrega, Piazzolla and more.

Biography

Armed with formidable talent, passion, and conviction, guitarist Andrew Blanch has carved out his own path with a musical vision that equally values both the tradition and the inherent potential of this continuingly evolving artform. His acclaimed performances, delivered with great personal warmth and artistic consideration, are crafted to enhance audience connection with the music, the musician, and the moment.

Recent highlights include: collaborations with leading new music groups Ensemble Offspring, harpist Emily Granger, and percussionist Adam Jeffrey; the commissioning and premiere of new works by Australian composers Daniel Rojas, Felicity Wilcox, Jessica Wells and Robert Davidson. Andrew has also been busy in the studio and has a number of upcoming solo and ensemble recording releases due out in 2022 that are sure to delight audiences.

Andrew plays a 2014 Greg Smallman and Sons guitar, is based in Sydney, Australia, and is managed by Tier 1 Arts.
