2017 Celebrate Ability Festival

International Day of People with Disability will be celebrated in Cooma with the Celebrate Ability Festival on Friday 1 December from 11am to 2pm, a day to break down disability barriers and celebrate abilities.

A range of community organisations, including Cooma Challenge, WorkAbility The Disability Trust, Ability Links NSW, Monaro High School, TAFE NSW, and Anytime Fitness will be on board to support this important day.

Council are delighted to be running the Celebrate Ability Festival again. It’s always a great day and we know that people enjoy the opportunity to come together and reflect on a year of achievement.

International Day of People with Disability is a day to celebrate the many contributions people with disability make to our community. A highlight of the Celebrate Ability Festival is the Awards ceremony, which recognises the many ways in which people with disability are valued as members of our communities.

The Festival will also include musical performances, the Punch and Judy puppet show, an art exhibition, face painting and a FREE BBQ.

Getting involved in celebrations is a chance to challenge myths, improve awareness and take positive action to change inclusion and accessibility for people with disability.

The Celebrate Ability Festival is a FREE event which is open to the entire community. If you would like to find out more, please contact Kristy Harvey, Snowy Monaro Regional Council on 02 6455 1934 or kristy.harvey@snowymonaro.nsw.gov.au, or visit www.idpwd.com.au
