Mountain Pygmy Possum Guided Tour

WHAT: Book the kids on an adventure with a friendly Discovery ranger to learn all about one of Australia’s cutest endangered critters – the mountain pygmy possum.

Children will enjoy hands-on activities and a short bushwalk along Thredbo Valley Track while they learn about this elusive animal, rather than seeing one in the wild. There will be an indoor alternative if the weather isn’t suitable.

Discover how this tiny animal endures long months hibernating beneath the snow and then bursts into life, feasting through the spring and summer. Their main course? A takeout meal of moths that have travelled over 700km. Learn how their habitat is restricted to the high mountains of NSW and Victoria, making them one of the most remarkable survivors in the Snowy Mountains.

Kids will leave with a greater understanding of the life of the little mountain pygmy possum and the work being done to protect this species into the future.
