Delegate

The historic village of Delegate is a 1 1/2 hr drive south of Cooma via Bombala.  Delegate is nestled amongst some of the finest grazing land in the State and surrounded by areas of natural beauty and wonder like the Errinundra, Kosciuszko, and Snowy River National Parks.

The Early Settlers Hut, believed to be the first European dwelling on the Monaro, is a testament to Delegate’s proud history, which like its neighbours Bombala and Cathcart, is rich in tales and folklore. The Delegate School of Arts houses the proud history of involvement in the various wars and the cemetery has a plaque marking the site of the first Christian worship on the Monaro.

The Bundian Way crosses through Delegate and can be enjoyed in town on the Delegate Trail, a self-drive tour of significant Aboriginal sites and historic buildings within the village. Bundian Way stories are at Bill Jeffreys Caravan Park, Delegate School of Arts, Bundian Gallery, Early Settlers Hut and Craigie Hall.

Enjoy a peaceful stroll along the Delegate River, one of the tributaries of the mighty Snowy River.

Check the calendar for updated “Out and About” event activities in Delegate, held the last weekend of the month.

History and natural beauty, Delegate has it all.
