There are a variety of travel options available for visitors to our Snowy Monaro region. Whether you wish to drive, bus, train or fly check out your choice of options below.
During the winter season the Snowy Mountains Bus Service will be providing public transport to the Snow Resorts from June long weekend to October long weekend.
A Transport Timetable for buses and trains to and from the Snowy Monaro region is available online or from the Cooma Visitor Centre.
Driving – Cooma is just a 4.5 hour drive south from Sydney, 1 1/2 hours from the centre of Canberra and just over 1 hour to the coast. Driving in Alpine areas can be hazardous, so be sure to check over some tips in driving in the snow – click here
Car Hire – While in Cooma, car hire is available from Thrifty & Hertz Car Rental.
Coach – Bus services to Cooma run throughout the year. Increased services through to the ski resorts run during winter time only. Contact the Cooma Visitors Centre for further information and timetables 1800 636 525.
Cooma Coaches offers a hop on hop off service around the township if you’d like to take a break from the car. Download Timetable & Map.
Rail – Train services operate daily Sydney to/from Canberra and Melbourne to/from Bairnsdale with a coach service then available to and from Cooma. The services are provided by Transport NSW Train-link and V-Line.
Canberra Airport is just 1 hour from Cooma. Charter coach services are available from Canberra Airport to Cooma throughout the year. A regular bus service is available during winter time only from the airport to Cooma and the ski resorts. Car Hire is also available from Canberra Airport.
Flights – Snowy Mountains Airport is located 15 kms from Cooma, but unfortunately is not currently running commercial public flights.
