Politics (Humour and Satire) on the Monaro – an exhibition

The Raglan Gallery and Cultural Centre invites you to a very funny and thought
provoking new exhibition ‘Politics (Humour and Satire) on the Monaro’ opening on
Saturday 25th August 2018 at 3pm. It is a group show that includes artists exhibiting
for the first time to professionally practising artists, curated by Gillian Jenkins. Works
will include small sculptures, paintings, drawings, ceramic bunnies, N-scale figures,
rhinestones and found objects.

The artists have brought their own unique socio-cultural experiences to their
interpretation of the word “Politics”. They have explored layers of meaning and
communicated those meanings in styles ranging from the subtle to the obvious. Each
artist has experienced a journey creating their work, for example one artist posted a
desperate message on Facebook for a new object (which can’t be disclosed here) as
his cat had eaten the one he was using. The warm response from the artists to this
year’s theme bears no ill intent, but rather their works invite conversation from
viewers. The current political climate is such that artists and communities can benefit
from a ‘communal chat’ so please come along. And don’t forget to BYO opinions.

The Raglan Gallery at 11 Lambie Street is open 10.30-3.30 Wednesday to Sunday.
